New York City can be as expensive, or as cheap, as you like. It came as no surprise that when I checked several providers to see what offerings are available for spring, I found quite a range of prices and hotel classes. Departures from Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles were tested, and packages include airfare, two nights’ accommodations, and all taxes and fees.

Sample prices for May are:

Expedia’s prices start at $210 from Boston, $270 from Chicago, and $377 from Los Angeles.JetBlue’s rates start at $446 from Boston, $536 from Chicago, and $744 from Los Angeles (Long Beach).Delta Vacations has packages starting at $776 from Boston, $739 from Chicago, and $881 from Los Angeles.

The listed rates are per person based on double occupancy. Single travelers may pay a supplementary charge for each package. Availability is limited.

All prices, dates, and booking details listed here were valid at the time of publication. Some information may have changed since that time.

Which deal offers the best value?

If the lowest price determines which package you’ll book, I found that Expedia had the cheapest rates from all departure cities, in each case for a minimum of $200. Another important factor to consider is the type and location of lodging included. To compare hotel ratings, visit TripAdvisor.

It’s always a good idea to compare costs before making a reservation, and you can use our price-comparison tool to search multiple travel providers.

Please note that most providers do not list booking deadlines, and not all packages may be available for the dates you wish to visit. Be flexible with your travel dates to find the best prices.
