How

I'll be hosting a live blog on the topic “How to get more of your euro when travelling in the Euro Zone” on Tuesday 20 May at 20:00 British Summer Time. It's a hot topic at the moment in the UK as the British Pound has lost around 20% against the Euro over the last few months. I'm travelling to Italy at the end of this month and it's making the trip a lot more expensive than I expected when I booked the flights in November. So if you'd like to get some great tips and advice of how to squeeze more from your euro, please come along and join in. It's simple to participate you just need to come to the blog post and a box within the post will come live, no software or equipment required. .

Rehoboth

Posted in Summer Travel by on the May 3rd, 2008

By visiting Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, before the summer rush, you’ll be able to save. Many hotels, inns, and B&Bs offer spring specials available through May, so if you can take a weekend getaway before Memorial Day, you’ll get a good value.

I’ve tracked down several properties that offer a good value for your weekend getaway, each with reasonable prices and/or a little something extra to make your stay memorable.

Today's live blog

© brockvickyI'm hosting a live blog at Europe a la Carte later today, at 8pm British Summer Time. You're welcome to come along and follow the discussion between the 5 travel blogger panelists. You don't need any special equipment the discussion will be displayed inside the blog post. If you'd like to make any comments or ask the panelists any questions, it's easy to participate. I posed the question “What makes you read a travel blog” on Wandalust recently as I was hoping for some insight into what Wandalust readers want from the blog. Unfortunately I wasn't exactly swamped by replies. I'm not sure if Wandalust readers are the strong, silent type or perhaps they're so satisfied with my content that they felt no need to comment! Please some along so that we travel bloggers can give you more of what you want to read.

Business-class fares to Europe are on sale from Continental. Fares start at $1,598, and cities include London, Frankfurt, Paris, and Rome.

This summer may be the perfect time to fly in the forward cabin. Considering how expensive summer flights to Europe can be, particularly this year, these business-class fares may actually not cost you much more than flying economy. Before you book, shop around to ensure you get a competitive price for your route.

Great Wolf Lodge has a Grand Opening Special for its newest property in Grand Mound, Washington (an hour and a half from Seattle). This promotion offers discounted rates starting at $179 per night for family suites, including admission to the resort’s in-house water park.

I checked the grand opening rates against prices for the busy summer travel season, and found the promotion will save you $150. Grand opening rates start at $179 per night, whereas the same family suites in July cost $329 per night.

From the Kaapse Klopse to the Field of Dreams: SA Music Culture

Splashy Fen

Legend has it that two friends, Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens, were sitting around over a beer one evening in 1990, discussing the decline of the great music festivals of yore. Concluding that the moment had come to reverse this trend the two decided then and there to found a festival in the grand old tradition, and thus the Splashy Fen was born.
