May flights to Europe from New York (JFK) are on sale from Delta starting at $398 round-trip. Destinations include Edinburgh, London, Milan, and Paris.

Since Delta’s sample fares seem quite low, I investigated to find out if they are actually available. I was able to find a $408 New York-to-London fare, which totaled $547 with taxes and fees included—not bad for May travel these days. I also found a $438 Edinburgh fare without taxes, $20 higher than the advertised price. However, the prices I found for the Paris, Bucharest, and Milan routes were $75, $124, and $201 higher than the sample fares, respectively.

Italy flights are on sale from Eurofly starting at $499 round-trip. Destinations include Bologna, Naples, and Rome, and departures are available only from New York (JFK).

When I checked, Eurofly’s $499 sale fares were still available on every route except New York/Bari and New York/Palermo. Nonstop fares totaled $574 with taxes and fees, and connecting flights totaled $585—definitely worth considering for last-minute May travel. When you search for flights on Eurofly’s website, click on the calendar before you search. The dates highlighted in blue are the only dates for which fares are available.

Canyons, Cheetahs & Kruger

Canyons, Cheetah & Kruger

Canyons, Cheetahs & Kruger is somewhat cheaper in value as Boots n’all trips go. It is certainly not as good value as the Dunes, Delta & Falls option. In truth adventure travel through Mpumalanga, unless you happen to have to stop and change a flat tyre in a hijack hotspot, or one of those long freeway shoulders where livid red signs warn you for your own safety not to stop, is likely to be minimal.
