By visiting Cape Cod before the busy summer season kicks off, you’ll be able to take advantage of the beaches, arts activities, and outdoor pursuits without the July and August crowds. Provincetown, at the tip of the Cape, is a popular destination for artists, GLBT travelers, families, and couples. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, whale-watch excursions, festivals, lively downtown (especially Commercial Street), and historic lighthouses.
I’ve tracked down several properties that offer a good value for your weekend getaway, each with reasonable prices and/or a little something extra to make your stay memorable.
Visit the Inn at the Moors before June 20 and you’ll be able to save. “Quiet season” weekend rates range from $119 to $179 and include daily breakfast. After June 20, prices jump to between $159 and $225. Rooms have free high-speed Internet access, cable television, and mini refrigerators. The property also offers water views, a heated pool, and free parking. A two-night minimum weekend stay is required.Dyer’s Beach House also offers reduced rates for early summer visitors. Book a stay before June 27 and pay $145 per night; visit between June 28 and August 31 and the rate jumps to $225. Every room has a water view, free high-speed Internet access, cable television, free parking, and a private entrance.The Carpe Diem Guesthouse offers upscale bed-and-breakfast accommodations. Rooms range from $185 to $310 per night and include daily breakfast, complimentary sherry and port, afternoon refreshments, a wine and cheese hour, video library, bike storage, parking for one vehicle, and use of the property’s spa area, steam room, and sauna. Rooms have luxury linens, bathrobes, and beach towels; some have fireplaces and/or whirlpool tubs.
