The Bahamas: Soft sands, fruity cocktails, and warm sunshine. No matter the time of year, a trip to the tropics is a nice break. To help you find the best deal I compared several providers’ offerings for four-night vacations to Freeport and Nassau in late June, testing departures from Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

The deals

Sample prices are:

Travelocity’s four-night packages to Freeport start at $551 from Chicago, $609 from Los Angeles, and $483 from New York.CheapCaribbean.com’s packages to Nassau start at $652 from Chicago, $707 from Los Angeles, and $500 from New York.Expedia offers pricing to Freeport starting at $508 from Chicago, $765 from Los Angeles, and $543 from New York.BeachDestinations.com’s packages to Freeport start at $776 from Chicago, $916 from Los Angeles, and $768 from New York.

Rates are per person based on double occupancy. While BeachDestinations.com, Expedia, and Travelocity’s vacations include taxes and fees for airfare and hotel, those for CheapCaribbean.com do not. Single travelers may pay a supplementary charge for each package. Availability is limited.

All prices, dates, and booking details listed here were valid at the time of publication. Some information may have changed since that time.

Which deal offers the best value?

Expedia has the cheapest rates from Chicago, while Travelocity had the most competitive rates from Los Angeles and New York. Regardless, remember that price is usually determined by the class of hotel, so be sure to investigate the quality of your accommodation before committing. Please note that many providers do not list booking deadlines, and not all packages may be available for the travel dates you want. Be flexible with your travel dates to find the best deal for your vacation.
