Uptake.com - a comprehensive and intuitive travel search engine

© vipworldUptake.com, the travel search engine formerly known as Kango, is working towards more comprehensive and intuitive search results for travellers. Uptake believe that there is a demand among travellers for a single site where they can access user generated reviews and content gathered from a multitude of online sources. Uptake doesn't just aim to collate all this information it's crucial that this information is organised and searchable in an intuitive manner. The date gathered is examined by attribute and sentiment for example a trendy city centre hotel for a girls weekend away. Uptake should then produce a personalised list of recommended hotels which fulfil your criteria. You could be open minded about about your destination or search by a specific region or city. It sounds like an excellent idea to me if Uptake can succeed in becoming a single source of information and user generated reviews for travellers and fulfill their aim of being “the first step to a great trip”. I know when I am researching a trip I can end up looking at dozens of different sites to try to reach a well informed decision. At present Uptake are concentrating on the US but plan to expand their coverage.

Alaska is offering a “summer preview sale” with fares starting at $59 one-way or $118 round-trip. Destinations include Santa Ana, Sacramento, Seattle, and Victoria.

Alaska’s sale prices were hit-or-miss for the routes I checked. The Boise/Sacramento, Portland/Eugene, and Seattle/Victoria fares were the best available, though the former was matched by United, but I found lower fares for the remaining routes. Alaska itself and United topped the sale price for travel between Oakland and Spokane, United offered a lower Spokane/Santa Ana fare, and US Airways beat Alaska’s Los Angeles/Seattle price. This deal is worth a look, but you’ll have to compare fares before you book to ensure you get the best deal for your travels.

US Airways is offering sale fares to several Hawaiian islands, with prices starting at $436 round-trip. Destinations include Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.

US Airways’ sale fares were the best available for four of the six routes I compared. The exceptions were for travel between Charlotte and Lihue, where United offered a better price, and the Phoenix/Honolulu route, where Delta beat US Airways’ fare. Overall, this deal is worth considering, but you should still compare fares to ensure you get the best deal for your route.

Flights to and from Orlando are on sale from Continental. Fares start at $200 round-trip.

Continental’s sale prices aren’t great, and other airlines, including AirTran, Frontier, Northwest, United, and US Airways beat them for every fare I compared over a wide date range. Since Continental did not list travel dates for this sale, its fares could be competitive for your specific itinerary, but you’ll have to compare fares to be sure.

Summer domestic flights are on sale from Continental. Fares start at $298 round-trip, and San Antonio, San Francisco, and Seattle are featured.

Continental’s sale fares (among the routes I checked) were beaten by other airlines for the wide date range I used. Since Continental has not listed travel dates, these fares could be competitive for your specific itinerary, but you’ll have to compare fares before booking to be sure.
