An African Oddity

Swaziland certainly is an oddity. It is a tiny landlocked country that is viable as an independent nation only in the loosest sense of the word. It is also one of the few remaining absolute monarchies in the world. Statistically notable for both its extreme rates of poverty and having one of the single largest concentrations of aids sufferers globally, Swaziland is ruled by a fickle, anachronistic, self serving, preening and pampered multiple polygamist who goes by the name of King Mswati III. Bordered to the west by fiercely republican South Africa, and to the east by thoroughly revolutionary Mozambique, it is hard sometimes to determined exactly where Swaziland fits in.

Bali

Bali flights are on sale in Cathay Pacific’s May Deal of the Month. Fares start at $865 round-trip for travel in September, October, and November.

At first glance, Cathay Pacific’s fares seem very competitive for travel to Bali, but you should still compare fares before you book. When I searched, I had trouble finding availability for return flights from Bali. If you run into the same problem, you might try calling Cathay Pacific for assistance, as its website does not offer a “flexible dates” feature, which can make finding availability very time-consuming.

Is TripWolf howling up the wrong tree?

© EggybirdTripwolf a new travel social guide site is launching. Nothing like a bit of flattery to get our attention with an email from TripWolf describing Wandalust “as representing the discerning traveler of the UK and Europe” and as befitting such esteemed readers offering Wandalust readers 200 beta invites to try Tripwolf. The first question that crossed my mind is what is going to make Tripwolf unique? Well here's what Tripwolf claim as some of their differentiating features: 1 Professional content from partner site

Austin

Posted in Restaurants by on the May 2nd, 2008

JetBlue has just started flying between Austin and California and Florida, and is offering limited-time fares starting at $99 one-way or $198 round-trip.

The introductory prices in this offer weren’t competitive for the date range I checked. JetBlue topped its own prices for the Ft. Lauderdale, Long Beach, and Orlando routes. American and Northwest also beat the sale fares for the Orlando route, and US Airways offered a lower Long Beach price. Frontier, Northwest, and US Airways beat JetBlue’s price for travel between Austin and San Francisco.
