United
Domestic flights are on sale from United. Fares start at $80 round-trip, and Las Vegas, Phoenix, Honolulu, and Lihue are featured.
United’s best price among the routes I checked was for travel between San Francisco and Las Vegas and between Washington, D.C., and Lihue. Alaska beat United’s prices for the Reno/Seattle route, while US Airways offered lower fares for the Chicago/Honolulu and Los Angeles/Phoenix routes. AirTran, Frontier, and US Airways topped United’s New York/Los Angeles fare. Be sure to compare fares before booking. Virgin America’s new deal offers many of the same routes.

As one half of the popular comedic illusionist act Penn & Teller, Penn Jillette entertains Vegas visitors and locals alike with sleight of hand and other tricks at the duo’s headlining show at the Rio. Last night it was announced that Jillette will now get to test whether his feet have the same magic as his hands when he was announced as one of the celebrity competitors on the upcoming sixth season of the popular ABC reality TV series, “Dancing With the Stars.”

Through Thursday, AirTran is offering domestic sale fares from $39 one-way. Cities include Miami, Orlando, San Diego, and San Juan.
AirTran’s deal is solid overall. Its sale fares were among the best available for five out of the six routes I checked, though American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, Spirit, United, and US Airways matched many of those prices. The only exception was for travel between Washington, D.C., and Miami, where US Airways topped AirTran. Although AirTran has competitive prices, other airlines are offering many of the same deals so you should shop around before booking.
