American has matched many of the fares included in Southwest’s latest deal. Fares start at $118 round-trip, and cities include Austin, Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas, and New Orleans.

American is facing a lot of competition. Southwest, AirTran, Continental, Frontier, Midwest, Northwest, and US Airways have the same prices for four of the six routes I compared, while the remaining two were beaten. Southwest offered a lower price for travel between Dallas and New Orleans, while the Los Angeles/Ft. Lauderdale route was beaten by Southwest, AirTran, Frontier, Midwest, and US Airways. You might find a good deal within this offer, but you’ll have to compare fares to ensure you get the best price and most convenient schedule for your travels.
