The La Quinta Inn & Suites Mercedes in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley has a “Shop, Save, and Stay” package including lodging, daily breakfast, a VIP coupon book for use at the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets, and a $20 gift card. Advertised rates start at $95 per night, but I was unable to find that price for January weekends. However, the $99 rate quoted still works out to be a good deal.

Cities worldwide are on sale from United. Domestic fares start at $90, and international fares start at $240. Flights to Chicago, San Diego, Puerto Vallarta, and Frankfurt are featured.

Other airlines beat United’s prices for every route I checked. Airlines including AirTran, Northwest, and US Airways offered lower domestic fares, while Continental, Northwest, and Alitalia had better prices for the Puerto Vallarta, Shanghai, and Frankfurt routes, respectively. You’ll probably be able to do better than this sale, so shop around before you book.

JetBlue is ringing in the new year with a new sale. Fares start at $49 one-way or $98 round-trip, and featured destinations include Las Vegas, Orlando, New York, and Nassau.

Overall, JetBlue’s sale was a bit of a dud for the routes I compared. Its best prices were for the Long Beach/Las Vegas and Chicago/Orlando routes, though US Airways matched the former, while AirTran, American, Continental, Northwest, and US Airways all came within a dollar of the latter.

Each year, Crystal offers discounts on select sailings. You can save up to 52 percent when you book a “Value Collection” cruise departing in 2008. Crystal vacations can be pricey, so the extra savings can mean the difference between taking a luxury cruise with Crystal or downgrading to a mainstream or premium line.

Skybus has announced a new sale with one-way fares as low as $20.08. The offer includes many of the airline’s popular destinations from Columbus, Greensboro, and Portsmouth.

Though Skybus’ cheapest fares tend to sell out quickly, they are still available for many of the routes I checked. With taxes and fees included, the sale fares total about $26 to $30 one-way—great prices for any itinerary. This sale ends on Saturday, so you’ll have to act quickly to take advantage of these low fares.
