Frontier has joined American, Delta, Northwest , and United in offering holiday fares for domestic travel. Fares start at $198 round-trip, and destinations include Denver, New York, and Orlando.

Frontier’s best deal among the routes I checked was for the Omaha route. Northwest beat Frontier’s prices for the Chicago, New York, and Orlando routes, and Frontier itself, American, and United also had lower Chicago fares. Delta topped Frontier for the San Francisco route, while American, Continental, and United offered better Los Angeles fares. There’s a lot of competition for your holiday travel dollars, so be sure to shop around before booking.

Virgin America has added Seattle as its seventh destination, and service begins in March of next year. Fares start at $77 one-way or $154 round-trip and departures will be available from Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Virgin America’s fares are currently the best available, but Alaska came within a dollar of the sale prices. If the so-called Virgin America Effect continues, you can expect more of the airline’s competitors to match its prices for travel to Seattle, which may significantly lessen the cost of flying between California and the Pacific Northwest.

American, Continental, Delta, and US Airways beat Aer Lingus’ sale prices for many of the routes I checked. The flexibility of the sale fares is a unique perk, however, so these fares are still worth considering for your specific itinerary, particularly if you expect your dates might change.

Flights to Argentina and Panama are on sale from American. Fares start at $429 round-trip.

American itself beat the sale prices for every route I checked, and airlines including Continental, Copa, Delta, Lacsa, LAN, Mexicana, Taca, and United also had lower fares for the Buenos Aires routes. American may have good deals for travel to Argentina and Panama, but they aren’t listed in this sale, so compare American’s everyday prices with those from its competitors to ensure you get a good deal.

Even though it’s not always explicitly advertised, Enterprise is still offering half off its regular rates for customers booking a rental car for long weekends.

The deal

If you book a car for a Friday pick-up and a Monday return, in most cases you’ll automatically see the special rates. Rates are valid for economy, compact, intermediate, standard, and full-size car models. All rentals must be from Enterprise neighborhood locations; airport and select metro locations are not participating.

This stupid choice between dying of alcohol poisoning and complying to carry-on rules was done by a 64 year-old man who was on his way home to Dresden from a vacation in Egypt. After drinking a liter of vodka, the man “was quickly unable to stand or otherwise function.” It's amazing (ly stupid) what people would do for alcohol.
