You can often find low rates and extra value by purchasing your cruise through an online travel agent or discounter. I asked a few online retailers for their best deals and then did a little comparison shopping of my own. The result is some of the best cruise pricing on the Web.
The deals
Here are some of the top deals from several online cruise agents. All sailings take place in 2008.

American has joined United in offering a Hawaii sale for travel this winter. Fares start at $456 round-trip, and destinations include Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai.
America’s best deals among the routes I checked were for the Dallas/Kahului and Washington/Kona routes. However, ATA beat American’s sale prices for the Chicago/Lihue and Los Angeles/Honolulu routes and Continental had a lower fare for the Boston/Honolulu route. Northwest beat American’s San Francisco/Kahului fare, while US Airways offered a better New York/Lihue fare. Since American’s sale fares hit-or-miss, you should be sure to compare fares from several airlines before you book.

British Airways is offering $20 off economy-class winter flights worldwide, and $40 off premium economy. The discount is available to registered users only.
The discount is a nice perk, and this offer is worth looking into in further detail. Compare British Airways’ fares (including the discount) with fares available on the same dates from other airlines to see if you’re getting a good deal. Since this offer is around until mid-January, you still have time to consider all your options.

Qantas’ latest sale features May flights to Australia. Fares start at $1,098 round-trip, and destinations include Sydney, Brisbane, and Cairns.
Air New Zealand beat Qantas’ sale prices for every route I checked. Qantas itself also offered a lower price for the New York/Brisbane route. Since Air New Zealand’s fares are more competitive, you should shop around before booking.

Through Friday, JetBlue is offering sale fares starting at $49 one-way or $98 round-trip to promote its new in-flight email and instant messaging service. Destinations include New York, Las Vegas, Cancun, and Nassau.
JetBlue’s sale fares were the best available for four of the six routes I compared, though US Airways matched its Long Beach/Las Vegas price and other major airlines came within a few dollars of the other fares. JetBlue itself, plus American, Continental, Northwest, United, and US Airways offered lower prices for travel between Newark and Orlando, and United also topped JetBlue for the Boston/Nassau route.

Flights between Atlanta and several cities in Europe are on sale from Delta. Fares start at $578 round-trip for travel between January and April.
Delta itself, along with Air France, American, KLM, and Northwest, topped the sale price for travel to Vienna. Air Canada offered a lower Paris fare, while Lufthansa beat Delta’s Dublin price. You’ll probably be able to find lower fares than these, so shop around before you book.
