Honeycomb

Our best-selling ice cream in our shops is Honeycomb crunchy caramel (this ice cream flavour originates in New Zealand, where they call it “hokey pokey“), and last night I set about final testing on the recipe for the crunchy bits that make it so distinctive. Known also as “cinder toffee” and “sponge candy,” it is as actually quite easy to make. (more…)

Late fall and winter domestic flights are on sale from Southwest. Fares start as low as $49 one-way or $98 round-trip, and featured cities include Austin, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Ft. Lauderdale.
This is the first sale Southwest has offered since the announcement of its new fare structure. Be careful when booking because the cheapest nonrefundable fares are all grouped together under the “Wanna Get Away” heading and can range from $49 to $99 within the same column. In my experience, the new “Wanna Get Away” system makes it harder to identify the cheapest prices, as you can no longer count on the “Internet One Way” fares in the far right column being the best.

Virgin America has announced a new sale with fares from $39 one-way or $78 round-trip. Destinations include Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.
Virgin America’s fares were the best available for four out of the five routes offered in this deal. The only exception was travel between Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, where Continental beat Virgin American’s price. This sale appears solid, but you should still compare prices before booking.

It’s a little after 3am on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007, and the Frontier Hotel (also known as the New Frontier) is no more. After a two-hour buildup and a few test fireworks, the sky above the Strip lit up with a full-on fireworks show at 2:30am.
Lights then counted down from ten on the southern side of the hotel, which had already been prepped for the implosion by the removal of windows and sections of the outer shell. As the timer reached zero, the number hovered for a few seconds before the big booms signaled the charges had been detonated.

Flights to Dublin are on sale from US Airways. Fares start at $298 round-trip, and departures are available from Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and several other U.S. cities.
US Airways itself, along with Air France, Continental, Delta, and Lufthansa, beat the sale prices for each of the routes I checked. While US Airways may have a competitive price for your route, you won’t find it listed in this sale. Shop around before booking to ensure you get a good deal for your itinerary.

dot2dot is a new airport transfer service between Heathrow Airport, London hotels and Gatwick Airport. It is a part of the National Express group, which is the biggest transport provider to London's airports. It promises to provide: 1. Efficient door to door (or shall I say dot 2 dot) service. 2. No need to worry about traffic since the shuttles are allowed to use express bus lanes. 3. Relieves you from the stress of flagging a taxi. And, it's actually cheaper than a taxi. 4. 24 hour control team, incase of delays. 5. It guarantees the passenger no more than 3 stops.
