Fall
American has joined United in offering a Hawaii sale for travel this fall and winter. Fares start at $474 round-trip, and destinations include Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai.
ATA beat American’s sale prices for the Chicago/Lihue, Dallas/Kahului, and Los Angeles/Honolulu routes, while US Airways had lower fares for the Baltimore/Kona, Boston/Honolulu, and New York/Lihue routes. Hawaiian and Northwest topped American for travel between San Francisco and Kahului. Since overall American’s sale fares are not competitive, you should be sure to compare fares from several airlines before you book.

photo The Aurora Borealis was said to have appeared in the Shiretoko night sky. It was never seen again until recently, when the Japanese found a way to bring the Northen Lights to Japan. Instead of traveling to Norway and Alaska, Japanese and tourists can admire the “Aurora Borealis” in Shiretoko Utoro Hot Spring, Hokkaido. But instead of experiencing the authentic Northern Lights, at 8 pm every night, the vast ice-floe of Shiretoko serves as a backdrop to “20 minutes of laser and sound-filled fantasy.” Tourists are entertained with man-made colorful Aurora lights as it swirls through the Shiretoko night sky accompanied by the crashing waves of the Okhotsk Sea. Here is an excerpt from the 20 minutes of the Aurora Fantasy”.

If you're on the road constantly, it pays to invest in a luggage that would give you the utmost comfort. Whenever I travel on business, I normally have a handbag, a laptop bag, a stack of magazines, hand-carry luggage and if there's a Starbucks at the local airport, then also a Caffe Moccha. It's a nightmare going through immigration, with all the unzipping, unbuckling and the rummaging. Until I found this bag. I no longer have to carry my heavy laptop bag and rummage through my shoulder bag for my passport and tickets. It certainly helped my travels less hectic. The best thing about the Helen-Rae Carry-on Bag is that: 1. It comes with a laptop pouch. Hence, relieving your shoulder from the weight of the laptop. 2. A practical pocket, where you can put your passport, tickets and even your cellphone. 3. It has a plastic lined pocket when you can put your toiletries. 4. And removable shelves/dividers which keeps clothes and underwear neatly stacked. The Helen Rae Carry-on Luggage definitely a fine piece.

ATA is offering $40 off holiday season flights to Hawaii. The discount is available from every city served by ATA or via codeshare with Southwest.
The $40 discount is a nice perk, and this offer is definitely worth looking into in further detail. Compare ATA’s fares (including the discount) with fares available on the same dates from other airlines to see if you’re getting a good deal. You’ll have to act fast because this offer ends on Tuesday.

Flights to Brussels are on sale from United. Fares start at $450 round-trip for travel through late February.
US Airways beat United’s prices for departures from Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and San Francisco, while British Airways had a lower fare for Pittsburgh departures. United itself beat the Hartford/Brussels sale fare, as did Air France, American, Continental, Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, and Northwest. Meanwhile, Air France, Alitalia, American, British Airways, Continental, Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, Northwest, Swiss, and US Airways had lower fares for the Boston/Brussels route.

November domestic flights are on sale from Southwest. The sale fares start at $49 one-way or $98 round-trip, and featured cities include Chicago, Austin, San Diego, and Washington, D.C.
Southwest’s prices were the best available for six of the seven routes I checked. The exception was for travel between Baltimore and Orlando, where AirTran, American, Continental, and Northwest beat Southwest’s fare. It’s worth noting that though this is a November sale, the days surrounding Thanksgiving are blacked out, including November 20, 21, 24, 25, and 26. Overall, this deal is a winner, but it’s still always a good idea to compare fares before you book.
