Rome
Eurofly is offering discounted sale prices for travel between New York and Rome. Fares start at $319 round-trip.
Though Eurofly’s deal is listed as a “Special for Arthur Frommer’s listeners,” it appears to be available to anyone. Regardless, I found a better price from US Airways for the wide date range I checked, so you’ll want to shop around before you book.

Several years ago, I went to Rome with my husband and our then 2 year old son. We had fun and we did see quite a few sites but our activities were a bit limited. This weekend, however, we knew better. This time, we had 2 kids in tow. AND, we were armed with Rome with Kids by J.M Pasquesi. Pasquesi lived in Rome for over a decade. She has two kids of her own who, I can safely assume, was with her while she was getting to know the city intimately. Her background is in travel editing and classical studies. All of the above makes her the perfect author for an insider's guide such as Rome with Kids. And after only reading a few pages, I am sure that you would agree with me on this. Reading her guide is like reading History of Rome for Dummies. It does not make you feel like you are holding a textbook like many guides that explain about history do. And yes, it's the MUST HAVE book for those who plan on seeing Rome with kids. You'll find information on how long each tour will take, what time would be best to tour your kids at certain places and which hotels & restaurants are child-friendly. And what makes this book unique (and which shows you a lot that Pasquesi deserves a PhD on Rome with Kids, if such a title exists) are her tips on how to engage your children during the tour. It's a bit of trivia, a bit of history and whole lot of fun for your kids. Going to Rome with your kids soon? Buy this book! I highly recommend it.

We are not alone, they say. There is life out there and they are observing us. THEY. You know… Close Encounters of the Third Kind type of THEY. Do you believe that aliens are flying over us in their UFOs? Some people do. Many don't. And if you are one of those who belive that there is alien life form outside of earth then you MUST head for Area 51 in Nevada. Featured in many movies, tv series, books and video games, Area 51 is owned by the United States Department of Defense and the United States Air Force. It lies in a remote tract of land in Lincoln County in Nevada, at the southern edge of a dry salt flat called Groom Lake. Because of the secret which surrounds the real funtion of Area 51, many rumours abound. Among the many theories, the most famous talked about are the UFO conspiracy theories. Facts and myth have been mixed and people are actually confused which is which. And the fact that Area 51 is closed to the public makes it even more attractive to believers. You may not be able to make it inside Area 51 but you can try to get as close as possible. The nearest town is Rachel. You can stay at Little A'Le'Inn. Their in-house gift shop is even alien-oriented. To get there: (more…)

I compared several providers’ offerings for Aruba vacations in November around Thanksgiving, testing departures from Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. All vacations include round-trip airfare and four nights’ accommodations at an Aruba hotel, except for the Liberty Travel offer, which includes three nights’ accommodations. With the exception of the Liberty Travel deal, which only includes hotel taxes, packages include additional taxes and fees for airfare and hotel.

Here's a funny movie with beautiful sceneries which may encourage you to travel…

The movie
Mr. Bean's Holiday will take you from London to the south of France, via Paris and Provence. When you watch this movie, you're going to see a lot of Europe. Of course, he's not going to take the shortest way and make it all easy after all, we're talking about Mr. Bean here. Rather than taking a short plane ride to France, Mr. Bean goes through Europe by foot, on a bicycle, riding a scooter, joining car pools in small cars and by train. Here's a short preview:

TODAY's Travel Editor, Peter Greenberg, recently wrote about places which most of us have overlooked. One of those which caught his eye and interest was Greenland, the largest island in the world. Greenland – which lies within the Arctic Circle – is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, thanks to the Vikings' 10th century explorations. Read Greenberg's account of his Greenland travel experience and you might be enticed to check this not so common travel destination. Need more reasons? Here they are… The Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Consider Travelling to Greenland:Whichever season you choose to go, you would be spared of the peak season travel crowds. After all, it's the biggest island with the lowest density of people.Even if you go during the height of Greenland's summer, you will never feel hot. During its warmest month, the average temperature only goes up to 5C. An advantage for those who hate it when it gets too warm.Bacteria cannot survive in Greenland due to the severe climate. And IF you happen to get sick despite this fact, health care is free for everyone.Happy-go-lucky people inhabit this country. They do not worry and are very friendly.Jails don't exist. Which means that crime rate is very low, if there is even any.No traffic. “ (more…)

A lot of things have been happening and I thought of linking some of the most important travel news which could affect many travellers in the UK. TravelMole has reported: The hand luggage rule of one piece per passenger may soon be lifted. After the summer peak travel season has ended, this security rule imposed in UK airports will be relaxed. Passengers will again be allowed to take two pieces of hand luggage. The liquid ban remains, though. Now if you'd rather avoid the chaos in airports, spending your holidays in the UK is your best bet. If you (along with your whole family) are considering to spend a family holiday in Blackpool, Hastings or Bognor Regis… DON'T! They topped the survey for the worst family destination. Instead, you may want to check out Center Parcs (which was regarded as the best family-friendly destination) and Bournemouth (the best family friendly beach). If you want do drive a bit further, you may want to keep in mind that “ (more…)

United has joined Southwest and American in offering domestic sale fares for travel through mid-February. Fares start at $49 one-way or $98 round-trip, and destinations include Chicago, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and St. Louis.
United’s fares were the among the best available for four of the six routes I compared, but other airlines, including Southwest, American, Continental, Northwest, and US Airways, have the same prices for most of them. Meanwhile, Northwest beat United’s price for the Phoenix/San Antonio route, and AirTran, American, JetBlue, and US Airways topped United for the Raleigh/Chicago route. This sale is worth a look, but you should still shop around since United has plenty of competition.
