Wheel of Deals from EasyJetHolidays

Wheels of Deals is a 24-hour (yes, you need to act now!!!) online discount promotion from EasyJetHolidays. They are giving away over £1 million worth of different travel discounts, every hour from noon today. If you book now (as in right now!), you (and the other first 99 people who also books) will get £50 off. This hour's code is PACKTONIGHT. This offer is valid for only an hour, as they are displayed on the website. After which, a new deal will be given away. Check out the terms and conditions of the Wheel of Deals promo here. Not sure where you would want to go? Check out the categorically divided type of vacations (golf, family, city breaks, health + spa, boutique and beach) on this page for some ideas. Since the rains are back with the vengeance, I am leaning towards getting (or should I say, dreaming!) a beach vacation getaway to Ibiza in Spain. But, I guess, I would have to check the Wheel of Deals promo every hour. I am waiting for the discounted value to go up before I do book anything.

Paid Vacation Leaves in the UK

In their bid to narrow the gap with other European vacations, UK workers will be getting 8 extra days of paid vacations per year. As announced last June, employees will soon be enjoying a statutory minimum of 28 days (including public holidays) of paid vacations. It's still several days shy of its neighbors' more generous number of vacation days (Germany has 30 days, France – 36 and Austria- 38) but, hey, it's a start. According to Trade and Industry Minister Jim Fitzpatrick, (more…)

Europe

1-800-FlyEurope is offering the first of the spring Europe sales. Fares start at $427 round-trip, and destinations include London, Paris, Venice, and Madrid.

The best price I found was for travel between Dallas and Venice, but many airlines, including Air Canada, Air Europa, Air France, American, bmi, British Airways, Continental, Delta, Iberia, Lufthansa, SAS, United, US Airways, and Virgin Atlantic, beat 1-800-FlyEurope’s fares for each of the other routes I checked. If you’re looking to book your spring travel far in advance, you may want to compare these sale fares with those from the airlines to see which has the best deal.

London Underground Strike

London Underground service is paralyzed. Only 9 out of the 12 lines are currently running after 2,300 members of the RMT union went on strike last Monday. It's a nightmare to go around London now. Only the Jubilee, Northern and (part of) the Picadilly lines are operational because they are, thank God for those who can use those lines, maintained by another firm. Alternative transport: regional lines, airport to city express, buses, your own car, bicycles and your very own feet. Expect traffic jams, long lines and short tempers as you go around London. Hopefully, they will come to an agreement as they resume talks.

Phoenix

Posted in Restaurants by on the October 17th, 2007

Flights to and from Phoenix are on sale from US Airways. Fares start at $59 one-way or $118 round-trip.

US Airways’ best deal among the routes I checked was for travel from Denver. Other airlines, including ATA, American, Frontier, Midwest, Northwest, Sun Country, United, and US Airways itself topped the sale prices for the remaining routes. Since this deal does not list specific travel dates, you may find these fares to be competitive for your specific itinerary, but you should compare prices to be sure.

Icelandair is offering Europe sale fares starting at $370 round-trip for travel in November and December. Destinations include London, Paris, Reykjavik, and Amsterdam.

I found lower fares for each of the routes I checked, from Icelandair itself and from Air Canada. Though Icelandair may offer a competitive price for your route, you probably won’t find it listed in this sale, so compare fares before you book.

Rugby World Cup Finals

If you are planning to travel to Paris for the Rugby World Cup Finals (how can you resist with England in the finals against South Africa!), good for you! However, if you've made plans to travel by Eurostar on Thursday, you might want to consider checking out alternative transportation means as the Channel Tunnel high speed service has canceled three services from Paris to London Waterloo on Thursday because of the strike by French public sector workers. To date, Eurostar has canceled the following services: 9003 06.22 Paris – London Waterloo
