American’s latest domestic sale competes with a similar deal from Southwest. Fares start at $98 round-trip, and Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, and Miami are included in the sale.
The best deals among the routes I checked were for the Oakland/Miami, Chicago/Nashville, and Providence/San Antonio routes, though Southwest has the same price for the latter two. But, I found lower fares for the other routes I checked from Continental, Frontier, Northwest, United, US Airways, and American itself. Before you book, compare American’s every day prices with fares from other airlines to ensure you find the best possible deal.

I forgot, in writing my previous post, to say how things went with us and our Sixteen shades of chocolate! Both my brother and I were slightly concerned at taking away vanilla, honeycomb, raspberry sorbet, and all of our other popular flavours for the food festival to make way for a scooping cabinet filled only with chocolate ice creams. Southwest has announced a new systemwide sale for travel through mid-February. Fares start at $49 one-way or $98 round-trip, and destinations include Chicago, Orlando, New Orleans, and San Diego.
Southwest’s prices were the best available for six of the seven routes I checked. Frontier topped Southwest for travel between Chicago and Las Vegas. Also, American, Continental, and Sun Country matched the Austin/Dallas fare, while US Airways matched the Providence/Baltimore price. Since Southwest’s fares sale has a number of good deals, you’ll probably find a competitive price in this sale, but you should always shop around before you book.
